ReadMe file for LAMPYRIS 101 version 1.0 - October 2001 ** Installation To install LAMPYRIS 101, run setup.exe from the root of your LAMPYRIS 101 CD-ROM (usually D:\setup.exe), then follow the on-screen instructions. You are legally allowed to install LAMPYRIS 101 on up to three different computers. For each installation of the program you need a specific password. The password depends on the Product ID you find in the title bar on top of the "Login" panel which opens as soon as you run the program. Send your personal details and your Product ID via e-mail to lampyris.password@tiscali.it; the LAMPYRIS Team will send you back your personal password very soon. WARNING: you can run LAMPYRIS 101 without the correct password only for a few days, so it is recommended to request it as soon as possible. When you insert the password for the first time you can save it by clicking the "Save Password" check box; in this way, when you will run it in the future, LAMPYRIS 101 will prompt the password request (masking its characters with asterisks) but will no longer ask you to enter it. ** Troubleshooting When you run LAMPYRIS 101 for the first time after the installation, some problems may occur: the following list may help you to solve them quickly; however, if you still have problems after reading this notes please contact lampyris.troubleshoo@tiscali.it specifying the error and, if possible, a detailed description of the actions you perform when the problem occurs. You will be contacted via e-mail soon. See also the LAMPYRIS 101 web site (www.LAMPYRIS101.com) for news, problem solving, tips etc. * "Out of memory" message while running LAMPYRIS 101 Depending on the versions of some system libraries that you have on your computer, you may encounter this error running LAMPYRIS 101, even if you have a huge amount of free memory available. On the LAMPYRIS 101 CD-ROM under the folder \Tools\AltVer you will find an alternate version of LAMPYRIS.EXE that may solve this problem; just replace the original program with this one. Technical note: the two versions perform exactly the same functions but using different releases of the system libraries. * Error 372 after entering the password, Error 429 running LAMPYRIS 101, or No Product ID in the title bar For different reasons the setup process could not complete the registering steps for some components, but you can update the Windows Registry information by yourself. To do this: Click on Start button Select the Run option Type in the input box "regsvr32" followed by the name of the component you need to register, e.g. "regsvr32 vsflex7l.ocx" (without quotes), then click on the OK button to run the command you just entered; you will receive a confirmation message at the end of the operation. The components you need to register manually are vsflex7l.ocx if you experienced Error 372, or scrrun.dll for the other cases. You can run regsvr32 as many times as you wish (i.e. you will not cause any problem if you erroneously run it twice for the same component, or for a component that was already registered correctly).
